RMS Version 7.60R and 8.00C Program Changes on the July 2014 Update


The monthly update disc you receive from BSMGR for RMS contains a current copy of the Christian Books & More ® database, new images, music samples and program changes. You should run IVDC after installing your update to make prices changes to your store’s inventory items. When that program completes, you can use IVL to print labels with the new prices. For your convenience, the RMS program changes on this update are listed below.

As a reminder, each month’s update disc also includes a folder titled “Manual” that contains the current RMS manual. The file is in Microsoft Word format, and there is a free Word viewer program in the folder in case you don’t have a copy of Microsoft Word installed on your computer.


The following changes are for 7.60R and 8.00C


FTP:
RETRY WAS LOSING DIRECTION.
SCHEDULE:
REMOVED DEBUG LINE.


The following changes are for 8.00C only


CALLMENU:
FIXED TYPO IN MENU.
CBMPAGE:
VENDOR LOOKUP SCREEN ON WIDE SCREENS. ON WIDE SCREEN RESOLUTIONS (SUCH AS 1366X768), THE VENDOR LOOKUP SCREEN WAS DIFFICULT TO READ DUE TO OVERLAPPING TEXT COLUMNS.
CHECKEOI:
ADDED SUPPORT FOR MULTI-STORE. IN A MULTI-STORE SETUP, THERE IS A COMBO BOX TO SELECT THE IVM FILE YOU WANT TO SEE COMPARED AGAINST THE EOI BEST SELLERS. WHEN THE PROGRAM STARTS, IT USES THE IVM00 FILE (MOST LIKELY IVM01 IN STORE 1) FOR THE INITIAL COMPARISON.
EOIBEST:
MULTI-STORE SCREEN FIX. REGARDLESS OF WHICH IVM FILE WAS CHOSEN, THE SCREEN LABEL SHOWED THAT IVM01 VALUES WERE BEING USED FOR “ON HAND” AND “ON ORDER”. THE DATA WAS ACTUALLY BEING READ FROM THE CORRECT FILE, BOTH FOR THE LIST/GRID AREA AND THE OH/OO NUMBERS. IT WAS JUST THE LABEL THAT WASN’T UPDATING.
IVDI:
BUTTON COLOR SETTING. TWO BUTTONS HAD COLOR SET WHICH PREVENTED THEM FROM DISPLAYING PROPERLY.
IVDI3:
BOOK SEARCH RESULTS ITEM NUMBER COLUMN EXPANDED. CHANGE COLUMN WIDTH SO ITEM NUMBER SHOWS WITHOUT HAVING TO MANUALLY WIDEN THE COLUMN WHEN RUNNING IN A 4X3 RESOLUTION (SUCH AS 1024X768 AND 1280X1024).
IVHR:
REMOVED READ PROCESS WHEN “NO” SELECTED. IF YOU RAN IVHR AND CANCELLED OR SAID “NO” TO THE “ARE YOU SURE” QUESTION, THE PROGRAM WOULD STILL READ THROUGH THE IVM FILE. IT NOW SIMPLY EXITS.
IVM:
• ADD MODE TO CHANGE MODE. WHEN YOU TRY TO ADD AN ITEM THAT IS ALREADY ON FILE THE SYSTEM NOW PROMPTS YOU WANT TO GO INTO CHANGE MODE. IF YOU TRY AND CHANGE AN ITEM THAT IS NOT FILE THE SYSTEM NOW PROMPTS DO YOU WANT TO GO INTO ADD MODE.
• ALLOWED A BLANK # ON CHANGE ITEM.
• COULDN’T GO INTO CHANGE ITEM NUMBER AFTER GOING INTO IVO OR IVR WITHOUT EXITING TO MAIN MENU.
IVNMPAGE:
MODIFIED SCREEN LAYOUT. RESIZED WINDOW TO REMOVE WIDE MARGIN ON RIGHT SIDE OF LIST BOX. INCREASED THE NUMBER OF LINES IN THE LIST BOX TO USE MORE OF THE SCREEN.
IVPSCRN:
• EXPANDED BUTTONS FOR “CHOOSE REPORT”. TEXT ON TWO OF THE BUTTONS ON THE “CHOOSE REPORT” SCREEN WERE CUT OFF ON SOME RESOLUTIONS.
• PROMO FIELD WAS ONLY 4 CHARS INSTEAD OF 5.
IVSO:
MOVING START ITEM TO EXTERNAL DATA ITEM FOR STOCK LOOKUP.
POS:
• REQUIRE MAIN BUTTON TO LEAVE SUB MENU WHEN NOT CHECKED, IT STILL REQUIRED THE MAIN BUTTON IN POS.
• YOU CAN NOW CHOOSE SMALLER FONT FOR BUTTONS.
• ADDED CUSTOMER NAME TO SUB-TOTAL SCREEN. IN VERSION 7.6, THE SUB-TOTAL SCREEN WAS SHIFTED DOWN SO YOU CAN SEE THE CUSTOMER’S NAME FOR EASY REFERENCE. THE NEW SUB-TOTAL SCREEN IN VERSION 8.0 IS LARGE ENOUGH THAT YOU COULDN’T SEE THE CUSTOMER’S NAME. IF YOU HAVE ASSOCIATED A SALE WITH A CUSTOMER FROM MLM, THE NAME IS NOW ON SUB-TOTAL.
• ITEM MENU IN VERSION 8 IS A GRID OF BUTTON. HOWEVER, ONLY THE FIRST 26 BUTTONS WERE BEING USED/ACTIVE FROM IVNM.
• EMAIL ONLY OPTION. BSMGR WILL NO LONGER PRINT 8.5 BY 11 INVOICE IF EMAIL-ON IS CHOSEN.
• NEW “MODIFY” OPTION. IF YOU ENTER “MODIFY” IN POS AND HAVE AN ITEM IN INVENTORY CALLED “MODIFY” WITH A BLANK TITLE, AUTHOR AND 0.00 PRICE, A WINDOW WILL POP UP ALLOWING YOU TO ADD A FREE TEXT MODIFIER DESCRIPTION. IT’S DESIGNED FOR CAFE/TOUCH POS TO MODIFY ITEMS (SUCH AS “LIGHT ONIONS”) WITH NO ADD’L CHARGE.
• ONLY A SINGLE ROW OF BLANK BUTTONS WERE ON THE ITEM MENU.
• NOT WRITING BURNSUMM.DAT.
POSMENU:
• VALIDATES DEPT AND SUB MENU VALUES.
• CHANGE AND MOVE OPTIONS EASIER. THE CHANGE BUTTON OPTION NOW AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTS THE TEXT COLOR TO MATCH. YOU CAN STILL FORCE A CHANGE TO THE COLOR IF YOU PREFER. WHEN YOU WANT TO MOVE A BUTTON, YOU CAN NOW SIMPLY CLICK IN THE NEW BUTTON LOCATION AND THE FIRST AND SECOND BUTTONS WILL SWAP PLACES.
• YOU CAN NOW CHOOSE SMALLER FONT FOR BUTTONS.
POSSCRNS:
ITEM MENU IN VERSION 8 IS A GRID OF BUTTON. HOWEVER, ONLY THE FIRST 26 BUTTONS WERE BEING USED/ACTIVE FROM IVNM.
SCHEDULE:
RE-CREATE PHONE INDEX FILE. IF THE OPTION TO REBUILD FILES IS CHECKED, SCHEDULE WILL RE-CREATE THE PHONE INDEX FILE AFTER THE MAILING LIST FILE IS REBUILT.
TUTOR:
ADD WIN 8 SETUP DOCUMENTS TO LIST. THE WINDOWS 8 SERVER AND POS/WORKSTATION SETUP DOCUMENTS WERE SENT OUT ON THE MAY UPDATE. TUTOR FOR VERSION 7.6 HAD THE NEW DOCUMENTS ADDED, BUT TUTOR FOR VERSION 8.0 WAS OVERLOOKED.

STRIKE THROUGH PRICE ONLY WHEN PRICE DIFFERENCE IS > 50 CENTS.
CORRECTED SPELLING ON SUBJECT LINE.
EZDATA:
STRIKE THROUGH PRICE ONLY WHEN PRICE DIFFERENCE IS > 50 CENTS.
FTP:
FIXED “GHOST” SCREEN. IF A PROGRAM CALLED FTP WITHOUT THE DISPLAY FLAG SET TO Y, A MULTI-LINE ENTRY FIELD WAS LEFT BEHIND THAT COULD ONLY BE REMOVED BY EXITING BSMGR.
IVDI3:
SALE PRICE AND SALE DATE RANGE WEREN’T RESETTING. ONCE AN ITEM WAS FOUND TO BE ON SALE, THE SALE INFO WOULD CONTINUE TO BE APPLIED TO OTHER ITEMS AS YOU SCROLLED THROUGH THE LIST.
MLP:
BIRTHDAY WITH “00” YEARS DIDN’T PRINT.
QBSRPT:
ADDED AN OPTION TO SHOW PENDING BILLABLE BURNS.
STOREREQ:
STOPPED DELETING POST FILE ON ERROR.
WIN8REG:
CHANGED REGISTER ROUTINE. INSTEAD OF REGISTERING EACH FILE, THE PROGRAM NOW CREATES A BATCH FILE THAT GETS CALLED TO REGISTER EACH UPDATED PROGRAM AND NOTE ONES THAT ARE ALREADY CURRENT.


The following changes are for 8.00B only


CHECKEOI:
NEW PROGRAM. COMPARES IVMAST AGAINST EOI BEST SELLERS AND DISPLAYS A SUMMARY. IT IS CALLED FROM IVO AND IVWO. YOU CAN CHOOSE NOT TO SHOW AGAIN FOR 1 WEEK, 1 MONTH OR 1 YEAR. THIS APPLIES TO THE AUTOMATIC POP-UP FROM IVO AND IVWO. YOU CAN ALWAYS RUN IT FROM ENTER PROGRAM NAME TO SEE THE SUMMARY.
IVO:
ADDED CALL TO NEW CHECKEOI PROGRAM.
IVWO:

Wow! What a great turnout for today’s users meeting! We were so blessed by all the questions and wonderful feedback we received during the webinar event today.

Make plans to attend Bookstore Manager’s training sessions at ICRS 2014. No registration is necessary. Just come by our booth and join us based on the schedule below.

Robbie Halstead with Kingdom Retail Solutions is the authorized trainer for Bookstore Manager, and he will conduct the sessions again this year. In addition to personally managing bookstores that successfully use Bookstore Manager Software, Robbie has overseen the IT operations of a regional chain and counseled many independent Christian Retailers in both start up and ongoing operations. He brings tremendous knowledge of the software and an intense understanding of Christian retail to the training.

Answers to your Questions about the 2014 BSMGR Users Meeting

2014 Users Meeting Webinar

We have already had a wonderful response to the Users Meeting invitation! We also received some great questions about the webinar.

1) How much does the users meeting webinar cost to attend?

There is no charge from us for the event, but it does require Internet access. You are responsible for any applicable Internet access charges on your end.

2) How long do you expect the webinar/meeting to last?

The prepared portion will be about 30 minutes. We will follow that with a Question and Answer (Q&A) session. We anticipate being finished within an hour but plan on continuing until the questions stop.

3) Do I have to be in front of my computer with BSMGR to participate/benefit from the presentation?

No. We are going to cover the program enhancements we’ve been working on for the past year. Only a few test stores have the new version and will be able to see what we are demonstrating. The intent is to inform you of what you will see (and benefit from) very soon. In fact, the first full batch of version 8.0 upgrade discs (for 100 stores) is being mailed out this week.

4) Can I join in from my phone or tablet?

The webinar will use a Google Hangout. If your phone or tablet supports Google Hangouts, then you can particpate in the users meeting from that device. However, your best experience will probably be from a computer so you don’t have to worry about your battery runnning down. Plus, the larger monitor with your computer will make it easier to see the screens being shared during the presentation.

5) What if I have a conflict and can’t attend? Will it be recorded so I can watch it later?

Yes! The users meeting will be recorded. Please sign up for the webinar. Once the event concludes, the recording will be pushed into the cloud. When it is ready to view, a link will automatically be sent to everyone that registered (whether you attend the live event or not). Obviously, we can only address questions for the users meeting from people that attend, so we hope to “see” you there!

2014 Memorial Day Support Hours

Special Support Hours

Our office will be closed on Monday, May 26th in honor of Memorial Day. However, our weekend emergency support number will be monitored from 9am until 6pm (Central) on Monday for critical issues, such as an inability to perform sales or burn discs from QBS. That number is (325) 669-2381. Leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

Weekend emergency support will also be available on Saturday and Sunday like normal.

Non-emergency calls from Saturday, Sunday and Monday will be returned during normal business hours on Tuesday, May 27th.

2014 Users Meeting Webinar

We are excited to invite you to attend the 2014 Bookstore Manager Users Meeting webinar! This is an opportunity to hear about enhancements and new features that are being added to your system.

Traditionally, we have held our Users Meeting each year at the summer CBA/ICRS conference. In recent years many have found it difficult to attend the show or were caught in the quandary of choosing between multiple simultaneous events at the convention.

To give everyone an opportunity to attend, we are hosting this year’s meeting via the Internet in a “webinar” setting. Now you can sit back in your favorite chair and learn what’s new at Bookstore Manager.

As always, we will end the meeting with a customer Q&A time, so register, save the date and bring your questions.
