RMS Version 8.00H Program Changes on the December 2014 Update

The monthly update disc you receive from BSMGR for RMS contains a current copy of the Christian Books & More® database, new images, music samples and program changes. Remember to run IVDC after installing your update to reflect retail prices changes for your store’s inventory items. When that program completes, you can use IVL to print labels with the new prices.

As a reminder, each month’s update disc also includes a folder titled “Manual” that contains the current RMS manual. The file is in Microsoft Word format, and there is a free Word viewer program in the folder in case you don’t have a copy of Microsoft Word installed on your computer. Munce 2014 2Day Sale

If you are not using Munce catalogs, please disregard this email.

Starting last year, Munce began allowing stores to choose the dates of the annual 2Day sale for November/December 2014.

You need to download the Munce data files by clicking here. This is a self-extracting Zip file that will extract to D:\BOOK. If BSMGR is installed on a different drive, you will need to update the location to match your configuration.

Once the file is downloaded and extracted, you need to run IVPROMO in BSMGR and enter “M-2DAY-R.TXT” for the file name. You should get a window that allows you to enter the “Sale Start Date” and “Sale End Date”. As indicated on the screen, please enter the dates as month, day and year (MMDDYY).

October 2014 Update Information

RMS Version 8.00F Program Changes on the October 2014 Update

The quarterly update from Dayspring is included on the October update. You don’t have to do anything special to recognize the new counter cards’ pricing. Simply install the October update with all folders (in particular the BOOK folder).

Please note that if your store is located in Canada, you can take advantage of the Dayspring file with Canadian prices by adding the following to your store’s environment file:

When applicable, the monthly update disc includes upcoming Munce catalog files you can process from the “IVPROMO” program. This month’s update includes two files for their November catalogs. One catalog (and matching data file) has promotional pricing from November 1st through November 30th. The other has promotional pricing from November 1st through December 24th. If you are sending out one of the November 2014 Munce catalogs to your customers, you need to use the file name that matches the promotion date range you chose to send.

  • M-NOV-RN.TXT = November catalog with Regular sale prices through November 30th.
  • M-NOV-RD.TXT = November catalog with Regular sale prices through December 24th.

Enhancement to Best Seller Reports (September 2014)

EOI Best Sellers Report Enhancement

The September 2014 update includes an enhancement to the Eye On Inventory (EOI) Best Sellers reports. You can now see top selling Videos and Audio Books. Plus, you can now filter Book results based on “Fiction”, “Non-Fiction”, by category or show all books.

To access the EOI Best Sellers reports, enter “IVDI” at “Enter Program Name”. The bottom right button on the screen is labelled “EOI Best Sellers”. Click that button to see the report options.

In case you haven’t used this program, here are the reports available:

  • All Books
  • Fiction Books
  • Non-Fiction Books
  • Books by Category
  • Bibles
  • Int’l Books
  • Recorded Music
  • Accomp Music
  • Videos
  • Audio Books
  • Software
  • Gifts (You can limit gift products by US Retail)

You can specify whether you want to see all best sellers, limit to best selling product not in inventory (“Missing Products”) or further limit the report to missing products that are available from distributors.

Items highlighted in RED identify the best sellers with no On Hand and no On Order quantites.
Items highlighted in YELLOW indicate you don’t have any products On Hand, but you do have at least one (1) On Order.
Finally, items that have at least one (1) On Hand are not highlighted. This makes it easy to see which products need your attention.

If you have multiple inventory files (multi-store setup), you have the option of running any report on the IVM file you choose.

We recognize that there may be top selling titles that you’ve chosen not to carry. The program is simply showing you what other stores are selling so you can make an informed choice on what you may want to consider carrying in your store.

Please remember that the reports are limited to 10 products in the search results unless you are participating in EOI. There is no charge to participate, and the process can be enabled as part of the nightly routines run from the SCHEDULE program.

New Ingram Warehouse in Allentown, PA

New Ingram Warehouse in Allentown, PA

Effective September 1, 2014, Ingram opened an additional Print To Order (PTO) distribution center (DC) in Allentown, PA. This is an alternative warehouse for customers to shop. According to Ingram, “PTO titles will be shipped the same day if they are ordered before the cutoff time.” The cutoff time is set by Ingram, so check with your Ingram account rep for details.

The warehouse code for the new DC is “B”.

If you want to create a Purchase Order (PO) for this DC, please do the following:

  1. At the “Enter Program Name” prompt, enter IVO.
  2. Either create a new PO or bring up an existing PO, then click “OK=F5”.
  3. On the second screen (with “Purchase Order General Information” at the top) in the “Special” field, change the warehouse code (third character) to “B” (without the quotes). Click “OK=F5”.
  4. Continue working on the PO as normal. The electronic (EDI) version of the PO will have the codes entered in the “Special” field.

For your convenience, here are the current warehouse (DC) codes:

  • “B” = Allentown, PA
  • “C” = Chambersburg, PA
  • “D” = Ft. Wayne, IN
  • “E” = Roseburg, OR
  • “N” = Lavergne, TN

One change on the September 2014 update (which you should receive soon) is support for the new PTO warehouse on Internet Stock Checks. The version 8.0 upgrade has been sent to all stores using RMS, and the stock check enhancement was only made for version 8.00E (and later). If your system shows an older version on the main screen (7.6, 7.4 or earlier), please send an email to support@bsmgr.com and include your account number, store name and the current version of BSMGR/RMS showing on the screen.

CPE 2014 Murfreesboro – Pre-Registration Deadline Reminder

Today is the Pre-Registration deadline for the Christian Product Expo (CPE) being held later this month (9/21 – 9/23) in Murfreesboro, TN. If you haven’t signed up yet, we encourage you to take a few minutes to do it today at www.cpeshow.com, and we look forward to seeing you at the show! (Remember, we’ll be in booth #1.)
